Who we are

What we collect
We don’t have user accounts. Here is everything we do keep:
- An anonymous session id. A random id in a cookie (
bd_sid) so your swipes, cart, game lobbies, and gift tools hang together across pages. It isn’t linked to your name or email unless you give us one. - Activity events. Which products you swipe, add to cart, share, or view; which filters, articles, games, and gift tools you use; when you start checkout. We use these to rank products, write our data roundups in aggregate, and see what’s broken.
- Things you type. Nicknames and avatars in games and exchanges, gift hints, wishlist notes, poll questions and roasts, recipient names on reveal links. Other people in the same room, exchange, or link can see these; that is the point of them. Don’t put secrets in a roast.
- Your email, only if you give it. For the newsletter or reminders. One list, unsubscribe any time.
- Browser storage. Your Wants list, your game name, and your private keys for exchanges and gift tools live in your browser’s local storage, on your device, so the site works without an account. Clearing site data removes them.
- Technical logs. IP address and request details, kept briefly for security and rate limiting.
What we don’t collect
Payment details. Checkout happens on Shopify’s hosted checkout. We never see or store your card number. Shipping details go to Shopify and to the brand that ships your order, under their policies.
Who else touches your data
- Shopify runs the store, cart, and checkout. When you order a product from an independent brand through Shopify Collective, that brand receives what it needs to fulfil the order.
- Supabase hosts our database (United States).
- Vercel hosts the site and sees standard request logs.
We don’t sell your data, and we don’t run third-party advertising trackers.
How long we keep it
Activity events and the anonymous session are kept while they’re useful for our product rankings and roundups, then aggregated or deleted. Game lobbies, exchanges, reveal links, polls, and wishlist claims stay until they’re deleted on request or cleaned up after they’ve been idle for a long time. Email addresses stay until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Your choices
- Email [contact email] with your request and, if you have it, your session id from the QA page, and we’ll delete what we hold about you.
- Unsubscribe links are in every email.
- Clear your browser’s site data to remove the cookie and local storage. You’ll get a fresh anonymous id next visit.
If you’re in the EU, UK, California, or anywhere with similar rights: you can access, correct, delete, or export your data, and object to how we use it. Same email. We don’t discriminate for exercising these rights.
Age
BuyDrunk is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. The name is a joke; we don’t sell alcohol and we don’t encourage drinking.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we’ll update the date above and say so on the site.
